Chapter Web Site/Newsletter Award
Presented by: NYSCTU
Presented to: A New York State TU Chapter
How many awards are permitted per calendar year: One.
Award description: The Chapter Newsletter/Web site award is presented to a New York State TU Chapter in recognition of good communications between the chapter and its members. Nominations for this award may be made by any TU member or chapter in good standing. Most chapters are now using websites as their primary communication tool.
Nomination requirements: Each nomination shall be submitted with the following: 1). Award nomination cover form 2). A short narrative letter highlighting the important aspects of the newsletter and how it provides an important communication tool for your chapter. 3). Sample copies of the newsletter/web site from the prior year for review. Include chapter website.
Anadromous Fisheries Award
Presented by: NYSCTU
Presented to: An individual or a New York State TU Chapter
How many awards are permitted per calendar year: One.
Award description: The Anadromous Fisheries award is presented to an individual member or a New York State TU Chapter whose activities have had a positive impact on coldwater anadromous fishery resources. Nominations for this award may be made by any TU member in good standing.
Nomination requirements: Each nomination shall be submitted with the following: 1). Award nomination cover form 2). A descriptive narrative letter documenting the contributions of the individual or chapter in preserving, protecting, and enhancing those resources pertaining to anadromous fisheries. 3). Sample copies of newspaper articles, white papers, or additional information to support your nomination.
Council Silver Trout Award
Presented by: NYSCTU
Presented to: An individual or a New York State TU Chapter
How many awards are permitted per calendar year: One.
Award description: The Council Silver trout award is the highest NYSCTU can bestow upon a member or chapter. This award is presented to an individual member or a New York State TU Chapter whose conservation activities were judged to have been the most outstanding and to have had a major impact on coldwater fisheries in New York State. Nominations for this award may be made by any TU member in good standing.
Nomination requirements: Each nomination shall be submitted with the following: 1). Award nomination cover form 2). A descriptive narrative letter documenting the contributions of the individual or chapter in meeting the goals of Trout Unlimited in preserving, protecting, and enhancing coldwater fisheries in New York State. 3). Sample copies of newspaper articles, white papers, or additional information to support your nomination.
Professional Resource Award
Presented by: NYSCTU
Presented to: An individual who is not a member of TU who derives all or a major portion of his or her livelihood from conservation activities, (e.g. DEC personnel, town employees, state employees and business or construction personnel, etc.)
How many awards are permitted per calendar year: One.
Award description: The Professional Resource award is presented to an individual who is not a member of TU who has made significant contributions to the preservation and/or enhancement of New York’s coldwater fisheries. Nominations for this award may be made by any TU member in good standing.
Nomination requirements: Each nomination shall be submitted with the following: 1) Award nomination cover form 2) A descriptive narrative letter documenting the contributions of the individual in preserving, protecting, and enhancing our New York-related coldwater resources. 3) Sample copies of newspaper articles, white papers, or additional information to support
your nomination.
Professional Communications Award
Presented by: NYSCTU
Presented to: An individual who is not a member of TU
How many awards are permitted per calendar year: One.
Award description: The Professional Communications award is presented to an individual who is not a member of TU who has made significant contributions to conservation through the use of the written word, public speeches, or educational seminars. Nominations for this award may be made by any TU member in good standing.
Nomination requirements: Each nomination shall be submitted with the following: 1) Award nomination cover form 2) A descriptive narrative letter documenting the conservation contributions of the individual in preservation, conservation, or enhancement of our coldwater resources. 3) Sample copies of newspaper articles, white papers, or additional information to support your nomination.
Individual Conservation Award
Presented by: NYSCTU
Presented to: An individual
How many awards are permitted per calendar year: One.
Award description: The Individual Conservation award is presented to an individual TU member who is recognized by his or her distinguished contribution and career dedication to the conservation and enhancement of our coldwater resources. Nominations for this award may be made by any TU member in good standing.
Nomination requirements: Each nomination shall be submitted with the following: 1) Award nomination cover form 2) A descriptive narrative letter documenting the contributions of the individual in meeting the goals of Trout Unlimited in the conservation of our coldwater fisheries. 3) Sample copies of newspaper articles, white papers, or additional information to support your nomination.
Chapter Conservation Award
Presented by: NYSCTU
Presented to: A New York State TU Chapter
How many awards are permitted per calendar year: One.
Award description: The Chapter Conservation award is presented to a New York State TU chapter to recognize the contribution made during the previous year by its officers and members whose conservation and enhancement of our coldwater resources was outstanding. Nominations for this award may be made by any TU member in good standing.
Nomination requirements: Each nomination shall be submitted with the following: 1) Award nomination cover form. 2) A descriptive narrative letter documenting the conservation activities of the chapter. Include the size and scope of the project(s), as well as the merits and accomplishments which contributed to the conservation of trout and/or salmon and the enhancement of cold water fisheries. In addition, list interactions with other organizations and agencies. 3) Sample copies of newspaper articles, white papers, or additional information to support your nomination.
** NOTE ** If the NYSCTU awards committee judges that none of the nominations for a particular award merits recognition , the committee may decide against the presentation of that specific award for the current year.
Trout Unlimited National Awards
In addition to awards given by NYSCTU, each year Trout Unlimited National bestows a number of awards to publicly recognize outstanding achievements by its members, Chapters, and Councils in pursuit of TU’s conservation mission. TU also recognizes the contributions of individuals and groups outside the organization who have made extraordinary contributions to the cause of conserving, protecting, and restoring trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds. The Trout Unlimited National Awards are presented at a special Awards Luncheon held during the Annual Meeting.
