Background
Catskill Mountain-TU was organized in March of 1964. The Chapter meets on the second Wednesday of the month (except July & August) in Kingston, NY at the Kingston VFW Hall on East Chester Pass (Rte 9W) at 6:30 pm. Membership runs from 185 to 195.

Activities
Chapter activities include a fall TU Conservation Banquet and stream restoration projects in the Kingston area, the Esopus Creek on Rte 28 and north to the Greene County line and south to the Towns of Highland and New Paltz. The Chapter partnerships with Ashokan-Pepacton-TU and Columbia-Greene-TU on numerous restoration projects. Other activities include annual Fly Fishing and Tying School (35th year) and several outdoor events in surrounding communities. The Chapter is continuing litigation against New York City DEP over violations of the Clean Water Act on the Esopus River. This Chapter along with Asokan Pepacton Chapter was awarded a 2000 Embrace-A-Stream Grant for rainbow trout/stream channel restoration on Esopus Creek. Current projects include finishing up an Embrace-A-Stream Grant on the Broad Street Hollow project with Greene County Soil & Water Conservation District where 1800 ft of stream bank was reconstructed; future work on the Bativia Kill and at Woodland Valley on the Esopus Creek. Chapter awards over the years include several Newsletter Awards, two TU Silver Trout Awards, NYSCTU awards to Ron Urban (1999) and to the late Jerry Bartlett (whose widow was presented a National Silver Trout Award for his undying efforts to protect the Esopus Creek); conservation awards for its affiliation for the repair of the Schoharie Creek in Lexington, NY Greene County Soil & Water Conservation District 2001 Award. Chapter members are very active with the NYSCTU where many have held NY Council office. Currently the NY Council Chairman, 1st VP, Region 3 VP, State National Banquet Chair, Earth Share of NY Delegate, NYS DOH Fish Consumption and Chemicals in the Waters Advisory Committee are members of Catskill Mountain-TU

Communications
