Clearwater Chapter-TU was founded in 1968 and has over 600 members. Its territory consists of Albany County, Schenectady County, Saratoga County, portions of Washington County (Battenkill River) and Schoharie County. Chapter meetings are held monthly on the third Monday of each month at the Ramada Inn, Western Avenue, Albany, NY. Activities start at 6:30 with a guest fly tyer. Regular meeting starts at 7:30 with guest presenters.
Chapter activities include youth programs, Fall national TU banquet & seminar day, tackle flee market, fly tying and fly fishing classes and fishing trips. Projects include the Battenkill bank stabilization at Shushan with a similar project on the Kayaderosseras Creek. Currently monitoring eight streams for flow and temperature. Quarterly stream and highway clean-ups. Also installed a handicap fishing dock with the Schenectady Park Service. Many on-going projects for the Battenkill River, Fox Creek, Onesquethaw-Coeymans Creek, Indiankill-Aplauskill and Ten Mile Creek. The Clearwater Chapter has partnerships with Albany County Land Conservancy, Albany County Ofiice of Natural Resources, Albany County Water Quality Co-ordinating Committee, Audubon Society of New York State, Battenkill Conservancy-NY, Battenkill Watershed Alliance, Capital District Regional Planning Commission, Fly Fishers Federation, NYS-DEC, Schenectady County Water Quality Co-ordinating Committee, Southern Vermont Chapter-TU, Town of Berne, Town of Rensselaerville, USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, Albany County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Farm Service Agency.
